Still under renovation

A New Home

Wow, college..... It took a while for that to be embedded into my mind, as I'm still pretty shocked at how time has whizzed by and left me here in the distant future. And ever since I finished reading Malcolm Gladwell's Blink, I've been wary of my adaptive unconscious (whatever that is... (",) ) and I have chosen to reserve my snap judgements until such a time that I can unlock them and satisfy "skeptics" with an explanation. But then, of course, laziness also plays an important role in the delay of this entry, hehehehe... And thus, I decided that 20 days without an entry kills the soul.

The College life I was expecting and the one I am going through as of the moment isn't so different, save for the hassles of riding jeeps just to get to your classroom on time. I knew before that U.P. Diliman was big, but I never expected that it was as big as 500 hectares! As for culture shocks, I had only a small share of them, most of which was just based on appearance. But I think it would only be natural for any normal person living in the Metro to be surprised to see a guy with long gridlocks or see someone sport a Mohawk or a mullet with matching beard and double glasses to complete the look of a terrorist. Another surprise I got was from the warm welcome from the orientations. I expected it to be more like " You're a scholar, and so a goddamn freeloader scrounging on the already withered up government coffers, so get a life and save this god-forsaken country!", but instead we were congratulated on how we have passed through the eye of the needle that is UPCAT.

All that said, I think I'm gonna enjoy my stay in U.P..
